Intro

During the Atlas of Weak Signals workshop, we worked together to explore and update emerging "weak signals" — early hints of possible futures. Through hands-on activities, embodied research, and collage-making, we co-designed new cards for the growing online atlas. It was a fun and collaborative deep-dive into future thinking, design, and imagining alternative worlds.

My Card

While working on a new weak signal, I explored my area of research by mapping out relevant trends, concepts, and drivers, and then categorizing them into different thematic clusters. Through group discussions and the collaborative development process, I developed a card titled Zoepolis/Interspecies Cities. This concept imagines cities designed not just for humans, but for all living beings—embracing interspecies collaboration, mutual care, and a rethinking of urban environments through a lens of life.

"Imagine a future where interspecies cities, far beyond the Anthropocene, emerge. Where nature is no longer seen as a tool but as the main actor in urban planning. Our shared habitats are no longer isolated structures, but interconnected living territories—ecosystems woven within ecosystems, defined by interdependence and networks of lifes. We move beyond old dualisms, cultivating a new sense of belonging, coexistence, and shared responsibility."
